“A creative approach to repurpose scrap”
For this collaboration, we wanted to find a way to use scrap material from our plant floor and upcycle it into something meaningful. There were numerous ideas thrown out, but the one we gravitated towards had a unique twist. Our Brand Director Josh Taylor is an assistant coach for a local travel softball team in Granger, Indiana. While discussing our creative approach, he mentioned that one of his players, Addy Shackelford, hand-made custom jewelry. “Let’s invite her into our factory and let her take as much scrap material as possible. From that, she can create one-of-a-kind jewelry that we can share with the A&D channel in the form of giveaways” said Taylor.
The team jumped on the opportunity to not only upcycle waste but help a 12-year-old entrepreneur with her small business. “This is what collaborations are all about,” said Jessica Bruckner, Customer Service lead for SIXINCH USA. “Helping a young female entrepreneur with her small business, plus, providing our external rep groups the opportunity to hand out upcycled jewelry is truly a heartwarming story – one the industry will rally around,” said Bruckner.
SIXINCH USA plans to roll out 200-300 units over the next 12 months. “We would love to give each of our rep groups hundreds of these pieces to hand out, but this is a 12-year-old and we still want her to be a child and not consume her days,” Taylor said with a smile. “We want to thank Addy for committing to help us and we applaud her work, she has been amazing!”
